you can. >> you're right, i can. autumn does begin wednesday night. we're counting down. the equinox is at -- >> party at your house. >> it is a big meteorological party. i don't know if you guys are invited. it's kind of wild. you know those equinox parties, i don't know. >> i'm not sure i can handle that. >> i don't know if you're ready for an equinox party, but i'll let you know. let's talk about what's happening right now. things are nice and quiet. partly cloudy skies, the temperatures are kind of mild for this time of the year, this time of the day, in the mid 60's. a little breeze coming out of the north at 7 miles per hour. it is going to be a breezy afternoon, but just a mix of sun and clouds expected with high temperatures in the upper 70's. so a nice start to the workweek. we do have some rain in the forecast for later on this week. i'll show you the seven-day forecast in just a few minutes. first over to sarah. i know she can take it at the equinox party. i know you're a big partier, right? >> i can't think of anything better than a bunch of weather geeks at one party t. sounds perfect! all right, i'll pass. as far as what's going on out on the major roads, one problem of note, it's in glen burnie,

crane highway at oak manor, an accident involving a motorcycle, so still being cleared and possible delays in that area. meantime, no delays really to show on the major roadways. looking good on 95 coming out of the northeast. j.f.x. in great shape. west side checking out ok. the rest of the marriage roadways that lead up to the beltway look good, too. north and west side, 10 minutes travel southbound 95 from the beltway southwest down to 32. here's a quick look at traffic. things are flowing smoothly into the fort mchenry coming toward us. we'll switch over to a live view of traffic on 795. going away from us is southbound traffic, building in volume, but still no delays at this time. and that's the latest on traffic pulse 11. >> our big story this morning -- president barack obama will take his economic message right into your living room. >> hoping americans will tune in to his televised town hall meeting today, the focus, jobs. 11 news reporter kate amara joins us live with more on that story.

good morning, kate. >> good morning, mindy. good morning, stan. just six weeks to go now until the election, and so the president is hitting the campaign trail. today, that includes cable tv. >> a black tie determine at the height of campaign season. president barack obama continues to spread his economic message. >> this was about a plan to rescue our economy. and rebuild it on a new foundation. >> the campaigner-in-chief hits the trail in earnest this week, rallying voters, raising money for democratic candidates, and talking directly to americans today degree a televised down hall-style meeting on jobs and the economy. >> i think the president has to , like a razor blade, just go right after the single issue that is upper most in the minds of the american people, and that's employment. >> the g.o.p. is pushing back, hoping to regain power on capitol hill in november, accusing democrats of spending too much. >> democrats' job-killing

policies have left our small businesses tied up in uncertainty, and our economy bogged down by nearly 10% unemployment. >> today's town hall meeting is airing on cnbc. a live studio audience of about 200 people will be a cross section of america, everyone from college kids to union members to retirees. live in washington, i'm kate amara, wbal-tv 11 news. mindy, back to you. >> so kate, what are some of the issues the president will discuss during this town hall meeting? >> well, the folks at cnbc say the president will be taking questions from this live audience, as well as questions from viewers, who will be at several satellite locations around the country. they expect the top ex-of the questions to focus on issues ranging from the economy and stem husband to taxes, job growth, and the housing market. >> kate amara live in washington, thank you. >> a pair of deadly shootings sunday morning have police looking for answers and suspects. the first shooting happened just after 5:00 a.m. in the

1200 block of bonaparte avenue. a man was shot in the head. no word on a suspect or a possible motive. and then, just 15 minutes later, reports of shots fired brought police to the 2900 block of edgewood street. the victim, 26-year-old isaiah white, died of a gunshot wound to the back after reportedly getting into a fight downtown earlier the night before. police say they have several leads on this case, but so far, no one in custody. >> in anne arundel county, fire investigators trying to figure out what caused a home in edgewater to go up in flames. fire official say a second alarm had to be pulled before the blaze in the 4900 block of chalk point road could be contained. fortunately, nobody was hurt. >> elsewhere in anne arundel county, a water main break is forcing three area schools to close today. chesapeake high school, chesapeake bay middle school, and folger mckinsey will all be closed today due to a water main break. >> no one thought the ravens would necessarily go undefeated this season, but chances are fans didn't think their first

loss would come this soon. despite the defense holding the cincinnati bengals to field goals and only field goals, four interceptions thrown by joe flacco kept the ravens from putting many points on the board. final score, 15-10. keith mills will have a full recap later on in our newscast. it was a mixed bag for sports fans this weekend. with the ravens loss, there was an orioles win. either way, the games helped businesses come out on top. 11 news reporter kim dacey live at the stadium to tell us more. hi, kim. >> the orioles played here at camden yards this weekend, so, of course, o's fans turned out, but so did fans for their opponent, the new york yankees. yankees fans came in by the bus load for the weekend series. add in the ravens game, televised from cincinnati, and it created big business for anybody selling anything downtown, from hotel suites to shirts to spirits. thousands of sports fans came downtown to watch the team play. pickles pub across the street

from camden yards says this weekend was the busiest they've had all season, with more than $10,000 in sales. so business owners are happy, and the game fans, they had a good time, too, even sharing the town with some of their rival fans. >> you know, i really appreciate the yankee fans coming down. they're helping out the city, absolutely. i think we had a sellout, almost a sellout crowd last night and the night before. what i necessarily don't appreciate is just the actual fans themselves. the actual fans themselves. >> next year, the way the o's are playing right now, businesses are hoping again next year they won't need those yankee fans to meet their bottom line. keith mills will have much more on the games coming up later in sports. reporting live at camden yards, kim dacey, wbal-tv 11 news. >> you know, they could just mail their money to us, to our businesses here. >> i like that idea. great idea, stan. >> well, a detroit family says their 6-year-old daughter's cheering squad definitely didn't have the right spirit

summer day. we're here live at clementine at harford road in northeast baltimore. we've already showed you how jeremy price here has whipped up this cry february tomato scramble. hopefully that will get you hungry for breakfast this morning, and hopefully hungry enough to come out to clementine or any of the other 49 participating restaurants for this thursday, september 23. at least 20% to 50% of the proceeds from that night go to movable feast, a great charity. with me now is the executive director of movable feast. what is it that you guys do? >> wr a home delivered meal program for people who have critical illness. we were founded to serve people with h.i.v. and aids. we also bring meals to people who have breast cancer and other life-threatening conditions. >> so if you want to find out who's participating or how to get involved this thursday, what do you do? on you on you go to our website, mfeast.org. >> it's this thursday. we're also going to be cooking some more this morning. jeremy, you have a really interesting dish. what are you talking about?

what is it we're making? >> we are cooking oysters in a hard cider au jus. >> basically it's the cheek of a pig, right? >> yes. they're very delicious. >> i've never had that before, so we're looking forward to it. quickly, let's look at h.d. doppler radar. things are high and dry today. canadian high pressure building in in the wake of a dry cold front, which got through here and is currently moving through, not generating any precipitation. so tony, these are the cider pork cheeks that jeremy is going to be putting up on our next couple of hits. ought to be interesting. paul a that's a new one to me. you know i'm a fan of bizarre foods on the travel channel. i've seen them eat weird stuff there. but pork cheeks on a mane menu, that's a new one. i like it. >> we're looking forward to it. >> be brave and try it and be honest, ok? >> all right, will do. >> she called me out on tv, i got to do it. thank you, sandra. appreciate that. sounds like a wonderful cause, great charity, and support some

of the local restaurants as well coming up this thursday. and again, we'll talk to sandra in the next half-hour. temperaturewise right now, we're in the mid to upper 60's, which is relatively mild for this time of the year, this time of the morning, so not too bad. 66 at the airport, one of the cooler spots up north. 60 degrees in parkton. here's the weather setup. we had a cold front go through that produced a few sprinkle natural couple of neighborhoods, but now it's drifting south to virginia, and there's really no activity along this front. no precipitation. there was a little bit of a cloud deck that we still have to get through, so we'll call it a mix of sun and clouds as we go through the day today, but again, we don't expect any rain. partly to mostly sunny. and this cloud deck that's right on the edge of your screen there, those are the outer fringes of hurricane igor. we're finally going to say goodbye to igor. it passed across bermuda last night as a category one storm. i did not see any reports of catastrophic damage, but there was a big storm surge with this system, even though it was downgraded to category one. it still carries a big wall of water with it. now it's about 100 miles north of bermuda, and it will

continue to track into the open waters of the north atlantic. so we say goodbye to igor. mostly sunny today. again, you'll see a couple of clouds hanging around, but jnl a nice day. going to be a little bit on the breezy side, but a good start to the workweek. clear tonight and chilly. temperatures will drop back into the upper 40's. upper 50's in the city. seven-day forecast, as we head through the rest of the week, sunshine on tuesday. we'll take it up to 80 degrees. if you're a summer weather fan, you'll like the end of the week, mid 80's, but a chance for a few scattered thunderstorms wednesday, thursday, and friday. if you're scoring at home, autumn begins wednesday night at 11:09, the autumnal equinox. let's head over to sarah with traffic. >> good morning, everyone. actually not a whole lot happening. the one accident we had in glen bernie has been cleared along crane highway. now we're focusing on the speeds on southbound 97 right at 100, 52 miles per hour, actually just changed to 46. the airport looks good if you're heading in that direction. no problems to report there.

and we're at 49 miles per hour on the top side outer loop right around the harrisburg expressway. building in volume as well on 95 coming out of the northeast. 52 on the west side outer loop. just as you get past 795, so far, so good leading up to the beltway. let's give you a live view of traffic. if you're traveling toward the fort mchenry. coming toward us is southbound traffic. still looks pretty good. no delays in the area of the fort mchenry tunnel. the harbor tunnel looks good, too. going away from us, focusing on southbound traffic, and still moving very well in the area of cookees mill. that's the latest on traffic pulse 11. >> taking a look at some of our top stories -- a fast-moving fire destroyed nearly a dozen homes in northern utah. as many as 15 homes burned down in the wildfire just north of salt lake city. at least 1,200 homes are under a mandatory evacuation right now, as more than 100 firefighters worked to try to extinguish the blaze. officials working in the gulf of mexico say they've sealed the busted deep water horizon oil well once and for all.

final pressure tests show government and b.p. officials, the top kill seal has capped the well that pumped millions of gallons of oil into the gulf for 87 days. despite the seal and efforts to disperse it, thousands of gallons of oil have recently been found in two-inch-thick patches that stretch for miles. and hurricane igor is battering bermuda this morning. the storm has already caused strong winds, beach erosion, and severe power outages throughout the island. the southern coast is expected to take the brunt with large waves and storm surges. up to nine inches of rain could fall. conditions are expected to improve today as the hurricane passes. >> in this morning's consumer alert, the summer travel season is over now, but gas prices are still going up. last week, the price per gallon for unleaded gasoline went up five cents to $2.64 in maryland. a.a.a. says this is due in part to the pipeline shootdown in the midwest, where stations saw

nearly 30 cent increases per gallon. by friday, the cost of crude oil dropped, which could help bring prices back down. the health of the housing market is once again a big focus of wall street. 11 news reporter jane king has the story and more in the morning's bloomberg business report. >> good morning. today investors are paying close attention to the home builders. this morning, a report from the national association of home builders expected to say the builder confidence improved slightly this month, though last month the index dropped to the lowest level in over a year. foreclosh you'res add to a glut of unsold homes, builders face many challenges. today we're also getting a financial report card from one of the nation's biggest home builders, lennar. as for trading back on friday, stocks closed higher. the s&p completing its longest weekly rally since april, and the bloomberg maryland index also rose. it was led by gains at united therapeutics and lockheed martin. possibly new charges for bank of america account holders. the "financial times" says they're going to try a new fee system that will reward

customers who maintain a minimum current balance, use their credit card each month, and bank electronically. other customers will be charged higher fees. b of a trying to recover revenue it expects to lose because of new restrictions. and if you're looking for job security, a college degree may be your bet bet. college grads earn more than those without degrees, and they have a better chance of keeping their jobs during down turns. also laid off college grads are able to land a job more quickly than those who entered the workforce after high school. still, the paper says they no longer guarantees a paycheck that rises faster than inflation. at the new york stock exchange, i'm jane king, bloomberg news, for wbal-tv 11 news. >> the time now, 6:19, down to 64 degrees here on tv hill. another check on weather and traffic straight ahead. >> it was a tough game for ravens fans to watch yesterday. keith mills has a recap, plus a look at the other birds of baltimore. better news there. >> don't forget to email your answer to our water cooler question of the day. doonk a detroit cheering

>> good morning to you. sarah caldwell checking on your morning commute. so far, so good out there. aside from the fact that the volume is starting to build out there, 45 miles per hour on southbound 97 in the area of glen bernie and 100. so a bit of a sluggish spot there, but other than that, pretty good. a nice ride still on the north side outer loop around the harrisburg expressway. j.f.x. looks good, no delays to report on the harrisburg expressway. we're at 49 auto southbound 95 coming out of the northeast. and eastbound i-70 checks in at 46 miles per hour approaching 29. here's a quick live look outside. going away from us is outer loop traffic. yes, it is looking heavy there

in the outer loop. but still moving very well in both loops here on the northeast corner at harford. that's the latest on traffic pulse 11. tony, over to you. >> good morning, everyone. things should be pretty quiet as we head out to work this monday. it's going to end up being a nice day. temperatures are relatively mild right now, mid to upper 60's in most spots. upper 50's across the pennsylvania line. the forecast for today, breezy and mild with a mechanics tour of sunshine and a few clouds. the high temperature this afternoon expected around 78. check the seven-day forecast in just a few minutes. here's the man with all the answers, keith mills. >> not enough time in the day to talk about what happened, let me it will you. defensively, the ravens certainly played well enough to win yesterday. they still yet to allow a touchdown. offensively, a different story. the ravens struggled and lose to the bengals, 15-10. marvin lewis wins another game against his former team. the ravens defense shut down carson palmer, and what mooveb here. dejuan landry has it, can't

big rallies to energize the young voters who elected him two years ago. from washington, tracie potts, wbal-tv 11 news. >> a domestic violence call in fred i can ended in deadly gunfire. police say they were called to a home in the 200 block of south market street three times sunday morning. the third time they arrived, they were told 28-year-old lidsee was out of the house carrying a rifle. after tracking him down, police say cohen ford a shot. one officer fired several rounds back. police say when they found cohen, he was dead, but it's still not clear this morning if the deadly shot came from police or if it was self-inflicted. also out of frederick this morning, police have charged the father with trying to suffocate his 19-month-old son. responding to a call in the 100 block of fairfield drive late friday afternoon, police say they found 33-year-old alton ambush suffocating his child. after refusing orders to let the boy go, police forced ambush to release him. the toddler was treated at a hospital. ambush is charged with child abuse and assault. >> this morning, hopkins

officials say the doctor wounded in last thursday's shooting at johns hopkins hospital is improving. dr. david cohen has been upgraded to fair and stable condition after being shot in the abdomen after delivering news to 50-year-old paul pardus about his mother's medical condition. after shooting the doctor, pardus shot and killed his mother and then shot and killed himself. >> fall officially starts thursday, but for tv viewers, this fall season starts today. nbc is unveiling several new shows tonight, including the much anticipated thriller, "the event." marge barger brings us up to speed on the week ahead. >> echos of "rocky iv" on the season premiere of "chuck." dolf lundgren guest stars. >> think of all the incribbles things. >> ok, not really. he's playing a russian bad guy. >> he's still big and muscular and looks like he's 32. >> for the actor, maybe best known as ivan drago, it's a

scared of talking about it. >> season 12 starts wednesday night. marge barger, wbal-tv 11 news. >> good morning once again. sarah caldwell checking in on your morning commute. let's get you ready to go. no incidents to report thankfully, but there are some slowdowns developing in the west side outer loop. that's probably the heaviest spot. right around 795 down toward liberty, 32 miles per hour through that stretch. 44 miles per hour on southbound 95. that speed sensor just south of the beltway. delays starting to pick up in that area, but still moving very well on the north side. everything in great shape on the j.f.x. southbound into town. eastbound i-70, 59 miles per hour. no delays to report at the beltway. and we'll give you a look at drive times. eight minutes on the inner loop from 795 over toward the j.f.x. only 11 minutes to travel southbound 95 from the beltway southwest down to 32. here's what it looks like on the west side. we'll switch over to a live view at harford. still moving pretty well, but

last night that produced a couple of sprinkles, but nothing more than that. as a matter of fact, there's no precipitation along the front right now. so as it moves further away from us, all it's going to do is pull in nice, cool air mass from the north out of the southern part of canada. we can see a few high, thin clouds back behind the front, so we'll call it partly to mostly sunny today, but generally a nice monday. then the clouds you see on the edge of your screen there, that's the outer band, believe it or not, from igor. this is a huge storm. it's weaker, but, you know, it's about 600, 700 miles across almost. anyhow, it moved across bermuda last night as a category one hurricane. we didn't much damage reports, no catastrophic damage. it did have a big storm surge. it was carrying a huge wall of water with it, and it's moving away now, and we can finally say goodbye to igor. so for us here at home, partly to mostly sunny, breezy, nice. high temperatures this afternoon will be in the upper 70's. sun sets just about now at 6:52.

>> monday morning, back to school. how does it look on the roads? >> looks pretty good. we're seeing standard delays, and also fire department activity at parkville at paring parkway. be careful there. heaviest spot is the west side. 17 miles per hour there. you can see 24 on southbound 95 coming out of the northeast and starting to slow down now at harford road heading over delaney valley on the outer loop north side. but yeah, there's the heaviest spot that stretches from 795 all the way to edmonson. we can take a live view of that delay. we'll start with old court, and coming off the ramps is where we're seeing some backing. any time will do that. there you go, some delays. we'll switch over to a live view of traffic. 95 in the area of the beltway northeast, and that's where we're seeing some delays as well. so nothing really out of the ordinary.
